Turn off the overdrive.....

My GF's mom's truck has no over drive. She had the transmission replaced (150,00 miles, classic Ford POS) and they put one in that happened to fit with 3 speeds, no over drive. If you try to go faster than 80 you start getting near redline. 6cyl Explorer getting 12mpg. :pointnlaugh:

You bet, lol.

But she went back to them and they were so lazy they just gave her a refund for the transmission and $400 to help compensate. $400 has nowhere near covered the gas mileage loss (12 is a conservative figure. like what I got when I drove to gainsivlle and back form live oak, with her moms heavy foot it cant tap 8...down from 18).

If she didnt have a 3.73 rear end and only 245/70/16's for tires it wouldnt be so bad.

You're crazy. lol.

My truck is basically a ford ranger... It got a vacumm leak that caused erratic idleing at 30,000 miles. Factory replaced brake pads failed and the rivets dug holes into my calipers, and the front end has fallen out of alignment at 60,000 miles. Speaking of which, I need to go get that fixed so I can buy new tires. I consider myself luckey as the only thing that I can see that is going to go soon is the clutch. But that wasnt FORD. That was the previous, idiot owner.
