View Full Version : Wanting to install high output alternator

I would like to install a higher output alternator on my car and not sure were to start. I have a Pontiac G6 '06 Base 2.4 L and would appriciate any suggestions.

Step 1: Start by buying an HO alt.
Step 2: Then next,take belt,unplug connector to alternator,take alternator off
Step 3: Put new HO alt in the place the old alt came off of,reinstall belt,plug connector in,or wire accordingly.
Step 4: The end.

Forgot to mention to reinstall all the wires to their proper location or it wont work!

You make it sound so easy lol I went to a shop today they told me there isnt an alternator that would fit for my car...a friend of mine was saying something about getting an after market alternator and making custom brakets....but i wounldnt even know what i need to get

Ok so i went to the HO site and no luck there they dont have anything in the catalog for my model and to request a custom quote they wont allow me to select any year above '05 ...frustrating...went to DC power engeneers and requested a quote Im hoping they will have good news for me. So far i spent all last night looking for an alternator to fit my car online and the shop that deals with alternators was not help today either....hoping to hear better news. Thanks guys for trying to help

see if its the same alt as previous years. maybe by part number
