well im in the process of buying 6 new 15's to go in my van (ive already got 3 and will have the other 3 in a week to 2 at the most,
i plan on doing 3 seperate boxes with 6cf per box tuned to 40hz and i was thinking about puting the port on the far side of the box and then with the bottom set of subs have the port on the drivers side , then with the second set of subs have the port on the passengers side and then the 3rd box have the port on the drivers side again and when all subs and boxes are in place i will have 3 subs that will line up in the middle of the van with 2 ports on the drivers side and one on the passengers side ....this set up isnt going to be made just for spl like my old wall, my main idea is for daily driveing / bass boxing ect
only reason im posting this thread is to see if anyone forsees any problems with puting 2 ports on one side and one port on the other side then filling in the gaps around the boxes to finish the wall
and incase youre wondering what subs im going to be running,
im a poor man so ill be running pyle blue wave's ....:pointnlaugh:
na im going a little bit better than that and im going to be running 6 memphis audio Pr 15's cheap ones but it should get the job done for what im looking for .....

We have a few experienced wall builders on here, hopefully they will chime in. I dont see a problem with it. :)

Put all of your ports at the same spot.

Why not two boxes with each housing 3 drivers?
3 on top and 3 on bottom with the port running across the middle between them. If you wanted to build seperate enclosurers you can and just invert one of them.
I do all my walls in the vehicle and one common enclosure.
For sure get the ports together no matter where they are.

just reading this post and wonderin what is the advantage of having all your subs in a common enclosure? as well as having the ports together??
also neil, what ever happened to your forum with all the builds on it?
only bad thing about having all subs n same enclosure is by my experence, if you blow an amp only 1/2 your subs will be playing but having to use all the air space changing the freq. and not preforming to the max poentail.

It's louder on both accounts.

If you break an amp with no replacement at a large event your probably not going to fair too well anyway.
I would rather have the higher score when everythings firing like it should.

This depends on how many of your subs are hooked to that amp! If half your subs are connected to the blown amp then half will not work, but the subs will work as passive radiators and tune the box lower.
I've always liked a common chamber wall, but it's more of a personal preference. From my experiences if you want a/an everyday street pounding wall to pick up more frequencies chamber it. If you want a higher db yield then use a common chamber box, but be prepared to loose a couple of frequencies. The common chamber box will be more frequency specific!
It will also depend on your vehicle and airspace, if your tight on airspace try to common chamber or common chamber pairs of subs, or amplifier pairs (2 subs on 1 amp, 3 subs on 1 amp, etc...). If they share airspace the subs believe they are in a larger enclosure.

well...neil lol thanks for the input, i guess i wont do 3 seperate boxes .i was thinking that because of the ease of building..and with 3 seperate boxes it would help with the flexing of the face plate as well
the subs im going to be useing are far from being power handlers they only take 250rms ...and i have a pa 3000d that i was going to run all 6 on
being as how i should go with a common chamber box like what is in my van already, which is 19.5cf minus port, should i just put a new face on the box and put the subs in that wall and retune the port? and what would be a good tune to tune the box for half and half performance? *ie bass boxing with a decent spl? i was thinking around 40-45 hz

this is my current wall (except i cut 12 holes in it for my old 10s lol) it was orignaly for 2 15's and with only 2 kicker cvr 15s A kole 3000D with only 8ga power and 16ga speaker (due to lack of time to run power and speaker) it was able to do 148.7db and that was with a stock 50 amp alt and factory battery, now ive got a 250 amp alt and 3 batts in the back and one up front with 0/2 ga going to the back
any chances of being over 150db again?

well i know the 10's were loud, but i could never get the proper power for them , with the 15's one amp will properly power them and i can get more of my amps and realy throw some juice to em so im hopeing that the 148.7db i did with the 2 15's in that wall orignaly will be out done with atleast a 152 with 6 15's .....i still might go with 9 15's but id have to completly redo the wall
DO it DO it, what are you really going for as far as 30 sec avarage?
I would do the 9 if your anything like me I'm redoing mine and hoping for a 56-59 30 sec avarage
mrwigglezdj
07-11-2007, 12:12 PM
well since ive never had the taste of anything over 150db and some change im aiming for 155db for 30+ seconds but the louder the better ....and as far as doing 9 goes it wouldnt be that much more trouble to do other than buying 3 more subs wich i could sell something and get em and new box.. but i have to keep the box within a certian size due to my working out of the van , i cant realy go any deeper than 16-18 inches so the biggest i can make my wall would be ..59W x 48T x 18D for a total of 29.5cf Outside measurement and roughly 23 cf internal (after takeing in consideration 2-3 layers of 3/4 mdf and 45's ect plus removal of port area
im wondering what ohm load i will end up with 9 dual 4ohm subs
you could wire it 1ohm 2 ohm 4 ohms up to you

6 DVC 4 Ohm Subs on 1 amp will be:
All parallel = .33 Ohm
Series/Parallel = 1.33 Ohm
9 DVC 4 Ohm Subs on 1 Amp will be:
All Parallel = .22 Ohm
Series/Parallel = .88 Ohm or 2.66 Ohm (weird wiring on this one)
Personally you'd probably be better w/8 Subs
8 DVC 4 Ohm Subs on 1 Amp will be:
All parallel = .25 Ohm
Series/Parallel = 1.00 Ohm

8-15's ftw!!
The other question is?
Are you looking to compete?
What class do you want to be in?
Db Drag? MECA? IASCA? etc....
All important questions.

read is sig. if he goes with (1) 6.5 in a wall he's n advanced with the number of subs he wants to use 6 or even 9 he would be in advanced 3 and db drag he would be n superstreet 5+ we dont have MECA around these parts

MECA? Not right now, but once my meter is back I will be hosting shows again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8 subs sounds great to me , when i get back from daytona monday ill see if ill need a new box or if i can use the old one i already have, but as far as competing goes im an iasca person myself and only been to one db show but i will be going to all shows here real soon ....
but reading about the bass race person being a sealed box?....im debateing on trying out a seald box with 8 15s and see how it works out....and if it dont work i could do port tubes from the bottom of the box and port them to the cab with a little bit of effort and no loss of internal air space.....so fellas , think i might have something with 8 15s sealed in my van with it walled off?
tips hints or other ideas that will allow me to still work out of it
if yea need help man i got a freind that is a pro at this stuff and he not only makes it loud but makes it look good to

yea the funkin build was cool, but this memphis install is going to be awsome xD and with no corners cut ...might have a drivers side window that wont stay up but everything else will be done to specs 110%
