im using Dupli color high performance wheel coating...i did the front 2 rims today, im basically gonna look like an idiot til next saturday, becuase i ran out of time and cant paint the back 2 til next sat when im off again. oh well. but i am going to redo the fronts as well. im not happy with how they turned out. i also put a clear coat on, becuase i couldnt get the black paint by itself to look evenly applied...now its glossy, and has some orange peel. im just gonna sand all the clear down, and re paint it with some black, and if i need, ill get it professionally cleared. but heres some pics. from a distance, it looks badass IMO. only when your up close to it can you see the imperfections, which bothers me, thats why im redoing it. hey, it only costs like 5 bux a can, and maybe 5 bux in sand paper, and time. so im not really loosing anything

had to protect the MINI from overspray

sanded down and cleaned (this i did right, the paint just didnt work out right lol)

i tried so hard, but it wouldnt go on evenly!!!! i could get the top surface even, but to get in the little grooves, it made the top part get over spray and turned out bad

to be honest, at first i didnt want clear at all. i wanted it to be flat completely. but i think i like it, looks good with the black paint. next up to get painted (professionally of course) is the wheel arches

Don't forget the clown with the bass drum.

It looks good. Might need to do some pinstripping down the side or something, to break up all the black. Just my opinion.

Oh, and if you put the wheel in the oven at 150 degrees for about 30 minutes before you paint it, the paint will lay down nicely.....but you're doing it ghetto with the tires still on, so I can't help ya.

Spraycans FTL.

looks really good.i saw a white mini with a black racing stripe with black rims and it looked sweet.

at one point in time i wanted to paint my new rims with bed liner spray.flat black.

i've seen the rocker panels done like that, but not sure how the rims would turn out

Tires off the rim, bake, and wetsand between coats. Didnt we say do it right or dont do it at all? lol.

Looks good for spraypaint though.

Looks ok to me. I think if the pics were in better light I'll like it. I've always been a fan of black on black. The paint looks like you used a spray can with a round spray pattern. I dont know if yours did or not, but if you get one of the cans of spray paint that have the fan spray pattern, like an I, it will spray a little more even. But im just rambling, lmfao

Looks good, and as dumb as you might feel; driving with both paint schemes allows you to really see the difference.

this was one of the front rims (that im redoing) so i decided to mess with the clear and wetsand it and see if i could get it to shine with no orange peel. i got a piece of it looking pretty good, cant really tell in the pics though.
