Whats your opinion on this trend of vehicle do you like or dislike it

At first I hated it, until I started seein alot of em.
Now I love em. Im just into extreme modification to cars, whether its HUGE stereos, HUGE rims, crazy paintjobs, etc.
I think its badass! I want a Caprice on 30s. :eyebrow:

This car is how I like them Low & Slow!!!
The girls love it when I go down!!!!!! LOL
I love modifications to any vehicle but these DONK's as some like to call them are a disgrace! People are ruining classic cars, that will be worth a fortune someday! There taking 65 impala's lifting them 8-10" and completely ruining the value of the car, what could be a $40,000 car is now worth $8,000! WHY?

Big rims: not a problem
Cars with custom subframes and suspension to get them higher than mudd trucks: Meh
IMO there is no reason to turn your car into an M&M car (or any other candy/cartoon) without sponsorship from M&M.

keep in mind, 22" asanti's with tires are a good $5,000.
30" asanti's on the truck.
(yea a good $20,000 on the RIMS alone)

Honestly I don't like seeing boats ride down the road on rubber bands. I've seen far too many come close to wiping out going across rail road tracks. Doesn't look to safe.
If I wanted wagon wheels on my vehicle, I'd go back to the old days when horse and buggy were the main means of travel.

If they are turning out 300hp at the crank, with that much rotating mass and weight and poor gearing I'd bet they have piss poort 0-60 times. I'd figure they would have lots of traction with thoes rims though. However, ability to turn the tires over doesnt make a vehicle fast. :)

What I really dont like about them is the owners like to talk a lot of trash about how loud their system is and when they put it on the mic they cant do crap. Then they put the PA systems in them and the super tweeters and they act like everyone wants to hear the shrill version of their crappy music. I know not all owners are like this but a LOT are.

LOL 300hp at the crank? oh no.
i said BIG BLOCKS, 502s,496s, worked small blocks. hell, normal everyday non-worked cars have 350s.
example.
one guy on ECR has a grand national on 22" GFG's....also owns a C6 vette.
says his vette ISNT **** comapred to his Grand national. these dudes easily pushin upwards of 7-800hp.
i can post a bubble (guy is on ECR) had 22" dub big homie's tuckin big time, pushing 370 to the rear wheels.
300hp at the crank? big negative in a lot of these cars (atleast the ones i posted)
and yea some of the owners are probably ****y, i dont see much of it myself (only during BCR, SBN, FLorida Classic etc etc) but its usually on who's car is better, who's faster.
hell, at the USF show, i heard the guy with the 26" on his 300C went to another 300 on 24s and actually shut his lambo door and told him to go home cuz he had a V6 and 24s (instead of a hemi and 26s)
the owner of that teal truck on 30s, man, he has a homer simpson grandville tucking 26s (motor comin soon), lincoln town car on 24" asanti's, old Lemans RUNNIN, and a dually on 24's to pull em all

You are severely overestimating carburated chevy v8's and the average donk at the show. Even still your claim of 7-800 hp is false. It takes a lot of work, even in a big block, to have thoes sort of numbers in a streetable engine.
We arent talking about the 100% show quality ones that have $150,000 put into them. We are talking about the drug dealer down J street in Miami.
From the factory carburated chevy 350's do not put down massive numbers, even the big blocks do not put down near the numbers that some people think. The posted numbers for the crate engines are perfomrance crate engines and are in top condition with tuned heads and manifolds and good carburators. Most of the ones I have seen have the stock small block, usually a 305 or 350... and by 350 I'm not talking LSX's motors either.
The average donk riding around town is a $1000 car with a $5000 paint job and $2000 suspension job with $6000 rims and tires and a $2000 interior. A few grand in a shrill stereo system with no bass and you have your ghetto cruiser. Some shiny parts under the hood and a loud exhaust with flowmasters or straight pipes too. Basically it is a $20,000 car, tops. Maybe a little more if they actually get a crate motor. Even still they usually just replace the small block and it is because the orignial motor died.
People like to talk about how much money goes into these things...compared to what a weekend warrior might put into a serious track car they arent that expensive, and lets be honest...when you see the average donk with the fake burrberry interior riding around town blasting their lil wayne... they arent funding these things with McD's paycheck...infact, they arent even getting a check, cash only.

I have done a couple of these cars @ our shop, so I can't really say a whole lot except for my personal opinion.
The branding of your car is completely rediculous! I would never put Lucky Charms, Pringles, or Oreo cookies on my car!! This is just ignorant!
The rims I can get over, The 10" truck suspensions I cannot! If you want a vehicle to look like a 4x4, buy one!!!
I can say when you take one of these cars and tuck some 22" or 24" rims up in the fenders, or airbag them they look HOT! Other than that, no way!

It is just like with the import scene. It started out as a cool idea and turned to **** when everyone and their brother wanted to try it out to be cool. Car fads are FTMFL.
myfriend has a 65 impala on 24s, and he upgraded the brakes...

his brother owns the town car and you missed about 4/5 of their other toys but its okay
i thought his brother had the grand national and lac on bellagios....pretty sure marc owns the TC.
CB, im not speaking first had, but i read from ppl who do see it first hand, and trust me, the MAJORITY of cars in miami have serious motors. hell even in atlanta.
now this doesnt go for all, there are still 3507203950938 cars that are half assed, crappy lifts, crappy systems, crappy jobs all over. but that doesnt go for the entire scene.
i too hate cars lifted super high where the car is one thing and the rims another, where the suspension showcases on the bottom, no i like tucking....look at all the cars i posted, none sit stupidly.
and that greenish-gray donk on the 3spoke MOZ rims.....yea he has atleast a good 40K in his car, and lots are in the motor.
some of the "detailed" parts are hard to find, and not all cars do it.
i can post the gold leaf donk, with pearl paint and golf leaf painted into the checkered tear away graphics. on 8,000 22" rims chrome this, chrome that.
but until you hear and see these cars (motor) i dont think you can really know.
i heard a red delta on 26" trumps (from lil wayne stuntin like my daddy video) and that thing was straight up LOUD, rumbled, vibrated the car i was in.
then there is the green box on 26s from TI top back remix video, he was at SBN sponsored by stinger, had 2 jl 13w7s in a bandpass.....REAL nice motor, and he runs it hard, i can pull up probably 4-5 videos of him burnin up his 26's (26" tires AINT CHEAP) getting sideways in pictures....
and to say all of it isnt legal is false.
the guy with the 30" asanti's on his truck...all that is legit, he owns a rim shop in atlanta, and i think they do audio also.

Like everyone loves ricers? Drifting? Cherry Bomb Mufflers? Hydrolics? Slamming every vehicle to the ground?
Agian, this is a car fad. Car audio is about Hi Fi (for the most part). As companies adapted their products to work better in the car environment it became more acceptable. Of course there are thoes who will always love the slow FWD cars with the big wings and ugly body kits and there will always be thoes who like the sound of cherry bomb mufflers and there will always be thoes who think 30" rims and 2' lifts are cool...but it wont be the "norm."

no sir.
a donk is a 71-76 chevy impala or caprice.
a box is (im not sure on years) but its towards late 80s early 90s.
just look, the car u posted (green) is "boxy" shaped.
a donk is much bigger and longer (dont take out of context LOL )
and the 96 or so impala / caprice is round, hence bubble.

yes we are so diff then everyone else.. sry you dont open up to new things..... maybe we shoudl try and make you happy.. how would you like all teh cars to look and sound????? what level can they ride at ????? wat size rims??? you sure???
So you are thinking that if I fake like something that I am not interested in I will be happier?
When I was 14 I was all about the F&F imports and other bull **** like that. Today I see it as stupid. The same goes for drifting.
What is popular in a car that will never go out of style? Performance. Function over form. Sleek body lines and tuned aerodynamics and engines.
Just as a true audiophile appreciates the sound, not the attention, a true car enthusiast appreciates the function and not the having "teh new hotness."
If you go to the average high school and interview every 15-17 year old male there and ask them what they think about driving around letting everyone else listen to their bass...ie having a loud system and flaunting it...the majority will think it is the coolest thing around. Even more will think it is cool to have a loud system. Fast forward 5 years and want to flaunt has gone down and the want for loud has as well. Another 5 years and it is even less. There are a handful that make loud audio their passion...but then again you don’t see the majority of serious competitors listening to 150dB systems without ear protection. You will see that among the younger crowd that is new to the idea.
The same will go for donks, bubbles, or what ever different names you want to give the same stupid idea, old body styles (or new ones for that matter) lifted high up in the air with massive rims that are heavy as all get out. Because I don’t like the idea of it some people think that I am ignorant or uneducated or not happy? Because I don’t fallow one fad that is all about attention? Sorry, Vacca foeda
After all this fad has spawned from the recent rap to crap movement where everything is about "dolla billz" and attention and women.

Its funny people keep saying trend BUT the only reason your saying that is because your just now getting exposed to it.
This is from my city because im sure every other southern city had a different story but im sure the base of the stories are the same.
In the 70's my great uncles and grandpa use to put the biggest everything they could find into cars. Back then the thing was 15" Mags with racings slick and a nice 454 or 327 with the loudest concert speakers they could fit in their cars.
In the 80's the new breed was putting 17's wires and 4 18'' speakers in their box caprices and donks and at the same time rolling around in vert mini trucks with the bed full of subs.
In the 90's was pretty much like the 80's except the mini trucks was subbed out for maximas on bowlegged rims and the invention of 20's and spinners.
and today well you have all the years past styles mixed with new the technology and an avenue for outsiders to hate without knowing the history.

Basically what you're getting at is any modification at all is a fad?
So a drag racing team puts a turbo on their race car. They did it in F&F and lately turbos are a big thing. Im guessing its a fad?
A person has a car with crappy paint, and want something new, so they give it a new paint job. They paint it candy green because they like the color. Is it a fad because other people have done it?
Someone wants a loud stereo in their car, and puts 8 15s in their big SUV. Lately, big SUVs all tricked out have been a big deal. Is this a fad too?
And that Phantom Donk is badass. 30" rims. Supercharged 572 Big Block doin over 1,000hp at the wheels. 6 CVX 12s. Dont tell me thats not a sweet car.

Not any modification, looks and styles are fads, function is not.
Turbos are WAY more efficent than superchargers, that is improving function.
Simply painting a car is not the same as painting a car with a cartoon theme, lifting the car, and putting big rims that do nothing but hinder the car's performance.
Big stereos in daily drivers IS, in fact, a fad. How many competitiors do you know drive around in the SS 5+'s as a DD? Do you think someone will want to keep that sort of system in the car for the rest of their life? If they had the money to have two cars do you think they wouldnt have a 2nd car that is more practical? Agian function > form. Lowering any car (even to the point it took AWAY from handleing because it messed with suspension geometry too much) used to be cool untill you tried to make down a steep driveway or when you had to go over a speed bump at an angle and even still you would sc**** your $800 body kit.
And finally, yes the car is sweet, minus the 30" rims and lift. Function > Form.

And just like bell bottoms used to be cool, they are became cool agian and then became uncool agian and are now comming back to the shelves in the clothing store.
Chrome used to be cool then gunmetal rims were cool and now chrome rims are cool agian.
Dragging frame used to be cool then uncool then cool agian and now uncool.
Nothing like this stays in pop culture for years and years and years, it goes in cycles of coolness.

Who said I was hating on anything. I said I dont like this particular fad. Infact, I was all into the import fad, mini trucks, and lowering everything.
So I am clear, when I say mini trucks I am talking about taking a beater truck and blocking it and turning the torsions way down then shaving everything and cutting off the ehxaust.

I just dont understand how that is attractive. When the wheels fit the wheel wells it can look cool but that is just rediculous. The ride has to suck too.
If that DHL one didnt say DHL on it and had better rims I'd say it is a cool car. It is ones like this one (the one I quoted) that make me go Meh.

Yes, your opinion is right to you. Not nessicarily to everyone else.If you like them, fantastic. This is a thread about like or dislike.
Old cars isnt the issue. It is lifting the cars and putting disproportionate rims on them and then themeing them with stupid crap like DHL, Skittles, or Homer Simpson. :crazy2:

Hydraulics
Airbags
all have one thing in common....people were crazy about them in the beginning and even though today people still do them they arent the craze....give it a few months, people will still own "donks" but the new craze will be what everyone is talking about like donks are now.
Not a fad...its a craze.....according to the dictionary they are the same...so I guess its a fad.
