ideas for the xxx box

well i been working on my xxx box design and i came up with a 5cu.ft box tuned to 40hz but i dont know how it will like it sub will be pushed to its limits(reconed after every show)ok well heres the run down tell me if it sounds right and tell me if theres somthing i should change...................18h 31w 18d port:16h 4w 12d....thats 40hz
but for some reasson that dont sound right to me i think i messed it up..is this right?

Start with a low tuning and shorten the port untill the SPL starts dropping

ok i have been thinking of diffrent ways to place the sub in the box and im not sure if it will make a diffrence in spl but have a look at tell me wich ones would work better for spl im sure somone out there has tryed a few of these befor

top left i was thinking of facing the sub to the side and the port to the back....top right i was thinking of facing the sub to the front of the truck and the port back...the bottom let is sub up port back but also thought about facing the port to the side of the truck bottom right is a normal port back sub up

Try that size box and maybe build another one 4 cubes..For SPL your box tends to be a little smaller..Just try differant sizes and write down everything...Frequency may be around 48 to 52 hertz sealed but you just have to play with it..Try a CRX box and use 6 inch aeroports screwed in from the inside so ports stick out for tuning..Of course this is for SPL not sure if this is what you want..Remember good luck and have fun doing it..

Sub up port back is what SUV people generally use. Like the CRX box before CRX people started going subs forward port back.

Try and avoid bends in the port. Bends add resistance to flow.

well i kinda wanna try some new stuff to see what happens but i guess ima just build a normal slot ported box lol ...........why avoid bends in he port i see tons of guys use that style.....curtis's port ha sthe elbow in it and it slams

I truly hope you arent serious about pushing this sub so hard you have to recone it after every show.....recones arent cheap!!

Throwing tons of power to it is not going to net you the results you are looking for. I wouldent give it much more than 1500...its a XXX, its only going to get so loud!

nah its not the enew style its an 05 model and i did the recone last night seems to work i need a box for it to test it but sounds good might be ready to sell it now lol

yup it was shimmed right and the coils straight and yep was a re recone but we used a diffrent dust cap(like the unmarked style)
