the box is almost done, my boat place was closed all weekend and i needed more fiberglass mat, so im going tomorow after work, to finish glassing the inside of the box, so i can install it for good, and start on the front and back beauty panels, and be done with it. as for the door panels, well, look for your self.
made some cuts. this is just for the speaker magnet to go through so i have enough clearance, so dont think it has to be perfectly even circles, etc.. because the pod will cover this, lol

So when exactly are you going to find a wrecked Mini to get a new set of door pannels? Should have just left them off and constructed new ones from scratch.
Anyway, Go blue. My thoughts are with you. You know how to contact me if you need help. I may not be the glass master but at least I have done it before. lol. It will come togather, even if it is next christmas.

Get to taping and streching fleece. If it were me I would go ahead and do a single layre of tape over the whole door, jsut incase you spill. It will happen. :)
pimpedout97x
11-27-2007, 12:27 PM
single layer of what, tape?
the whole door is taped up at this point, im only going to lay mat down on the parts i need...im not going to make a full mold of the outer of the panel when i only need a mold of the bottom and some of the side

no i havent started, thats the pod on the box lol. i noobed it up.
im taking the headliner a b and c pillars to get sueded, then the box can go back in
pimpedout97x

the side panels are finished, ready to put back in the car (the 2 side trim pieces that go on each side of the rear seats)
so i get those in, then i get finish glassing the inside of the box, and FINALLY get it back in the car, for GOOD.
i got a drill press (thanks Robin) so i can cut out 6.5" circles like cake now, instead of using a jig.
anyways, i dont think im going to flush mount the mids, im just gonna try and go for a similar look like Tommy McKinney's in his truck:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/pimpedout92x/vbpgimagephp.jpg
only on mine, its gonna be opposite. he has more mids on the bottom, and less on top, which i kinda like better, but i cant do that on mine. mine will have to be 2 mids on bottom, and 4 on top. i could fit a 5th on top, but then it will throw off my load of 1 ohm per channel, so who cares, plus, it will be firing into the seat.
what you guys think? 6 tweets will be in a row, above the top row of mids.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/pimpedout92x/Mini/DSCF2184.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/pimpedout92x/Mini/DSCF21651.jpg
i thought about something like this, but i think it looks ugly now when i look at it...i think the other way is the cleanest way to put 6 mids on my door panel (without them hitting the seat, mind you)

heres a pic with my door shut, you can see where the seat blocks the door

its gonna be soo loud anyways that if they fire into the seats you wont really notice much.
oh..the pod i mentioned for the dash would only sit on it,and can be removable.you would just have to figure out how to secure it without screwing into the dash.

Yeah, SSA is cool, but if you post anything everyone will rip you a new one because your "imaging isnt right" or your tweeters "arent aimed correctly" or they will think you're some amatuer for not having your doors completely sealed off or running a passive crossover. And if you run coaxials, forget about it.
Its just hilarious that some of the people are so stuck up because they think they are a "SQ Guy".
