funny thing about horns under cars if you attach then with anything other than zip ties and fail to stabalize the motor they will fall off. zip ties are how 99% of shops put horns under cars.

I'm assuming he ment there wasn't room to mount all 12 12"s on the sides alone so they had to put them on the back wall.

Customer goes to Tommy and says "I want 12 12s". Well Tommy contracts the box out to someone who knows what they're doing, Will. Both get paid so its win-win right?

Saying there's something wrong with subs in the back of the box is the same mentality as saying its wrong to put the port in the back of a ported wedge. Please do not hijack a topic in my sub-forum comments are always well received negativity isn't.

Don't get me wrong, I love Will's work, it is some of the cleanest around but yes generally when you have subs firing every which way you will have cancellation and in some cases have loading issues.

From your installs you're a proven installer. Did you do the door panels and trim work too minus the installation of speakers/amps?

Will Alfonso

Doors, box, front and side trim, battery rack, amp rack = me. I did not paint box, install amps or speakers or batteries or wires or alternator.

Added:
With the current state of car audio and people going to a brick and mortar business fondeling their product and deciding what they like then leaving without purchasing anything in store. THen buying it online it is very difficult for shops to keep full time custom only fabricators on payroll. A current trend is to sub contract custom work to people like myself. Yes I can install with the best of them albeit I'm slower than I used to be but I focus on fabricating. People shouldn't hate on one shop or another for having subbed out parts of a build. They can always go directly to the sub shop and skip the middle man or they can look at a salesman as a contractor building a house where he hires electricians carpenters and plumbers etc you deal with him "he" builds a house...

To sum up most installers can do some custom work, but on big projects or timed situations a specialist can always be helpful.

key differences.. Building a house is complicated and has things you may not know you want/need without talking to a contractor..

Car audio you know what you want when going in and can find a fabricator on your own and not pay the shop to find him for you.

So you're saying a car audio is not complicated? Big custom builds are not complicated? Come on now. And honestly most people doing really big custom builds don't know what they want. They have an idea of what they would like to accomplish but normally aren't sure how they are going to get there, what the best options are, what they can get for what they can afford, etc.. And often the type of person who goes to a shop for these builds has zero desire to be a DIY'er or hobbyist, they want a turn-key system that works and stays working. That requires a whole new level of quality from most backyard installers, a level that most DIY'ers can't even comprehend - much less accomplish.

To even compare the complications of building a house to car audio is silly.. I will continue to cut out the middle man and get what I need done from a direct source if I couldn't do it. Finding people that do custom work is simple and with the internet finding reviews of their work makes it that much easier.

I've done both, and it's less different than you might realize at times. Anymore building houses is pretty much cookie cutter, true custom homes are pretty uncommon anymore. But almost every car build is something custom to that vehicle and that owner.
You have to realize, you're into spending the time to search people out, take your vehicle multiple places if needed, etc etc. You enjoy that process, and that's cool. Most people want to drop a car off and pick it up when it's done. They don't want to hunt out this fab guy, this wiring guy, that paint guy etc. There's a whole lot of stuff in car audio that people don't know that they want or need until you talk to a qualified installer.

building a house is a way longer process but i wouldnt say its more complicating than building a system correctly
