Well im doing a wall in my expedition for 4 18" Fi BTLs. Its going to be a daily driver. Right now im thinking subs staggered in the passanger side and a port on the driver side. Most SPL cars use that but would it work for a daily car? It will be tuned to like 35hz or so. I was also wondering about subs on the sides and a big port in the center, dividing the 2 chambers.

I was just wondering what would be best for a daily car?

If you have the room, port driver's side and subs staggered will work best...

thats exactly what im thinking.

i dont know if im going to need that much port area, or even be able to use that much port eara, because if i got that much port area, the port would have tp be so long to get a tuning that would be good for daily use.

im going to talk to pete @ team toxic bass about some designs.

The reason people put the port on the driver's side is because in SPL comp, they put the sensor on the passenger side. The pressure is greater opposite the port, so it increases your number.

You're right about the port length. It will have to be REAL long in a traditional SPL wall (Subs on pass. side, port takes up room left.) But with 4 18's you might not have alot of port area left, which will decrease the length required.

If your goal is all out SPL, with a daily setup, then you need to go this route. But if you want to do something different, show quality, etc. I say forget the tradion and show up with something cool.

It's already 4 freaking 18's, it's gonna be LOUD anyway! Good luck.

ya, i was thinking also it would be pretty cool for a daily car to have the subs on the sides and a port in the middle. i was thinking as much port area possible each sub. i was thinking like 400-450 sq in of port if i can fit the necessary port length.

For one 18" fully loaded, they recommend 5-8 cube, ported, Tuned to 30-35hz.

So for 4 of them..... (if my math is correct)

32 cubes with 512 sq. in. port
28 cubes with 448 sq. in port
24 cubes with 384 sq. in port
20 cubes with 320 sq. in port

They also recommend 12-16 sq. in. of port area per cubic foot of enclosure.

Then they say
This is what we reccomend for a daily driving / street beating type application. For SPL and fart burping it will be vastly different and very install and scenario dependent.

Not sure if that helps you at all GM, but at least I did try :)

I vote for something that may not be "as loud" but looks alot cooler! im thinking something like what tommy has but ported....dont know if it is really possible, but im sure it is. and of course a different shape than tommy's....maybe a wedge or a square....who knows, be creative!

ya, diamons are definately cool, but idk about doing it with only 4 subs. maybe like a mini clamshell with a huge port in the center?

ive talked to scott at Fi and i think im doing 28-30 cubes @ 35hz. im not sure what im going to do now... i got time to think it over though.

Port in the middle if you are keeping the back seat.

back seat is coming completely out and the wall is going directly behind the front seat.
