What can we do about them? I know as the site gets more popular, we will start getting this trash, but is there something we can do?

P.S.

I would like to see another featured store and competitor for this month. It’s the 20 th and we have the same ones from December :?

The problem with spam is they will always be there, no matter what you do. PhpBB is very known for getting spam or unwanted users. A lot of this may (or may not) be fixed when phpbb3.0 actually releases.

I have sent a pm to admin with something custom. Not sure if it'll work or not, but from what I've read, other people that have used it are happy with it. I'm also looking around to see if I can find some other things (spam is happening on a lot of forums I visit, some phpbb, so I'm trying to help out all of them as best I can).

The thing I'm seeing here that is differant is, usually a spambot starts a topic. I very rarely see one add a reply to a topic, even though I'm sure it can be done.

Oh well, back to my searching for stuff.

I forgot to add. A lot of this can be cut down to making the forum admin approval of posting and/or joining. That would put a lot of more work on the admin though as he/they would have to personally approve each and every attempt to join or post. This would also be a hassle for the normal members.

Um no, it's a different competitor. The shop has not changed yet.

I've tried the admin aproval, and I just don't have the time to approve each user. vBulletin is coming soon, so I hope that will help.
