Two 15s or one 18

I'm kinda looking for the wow factor that's why I really want the 18 but I deffinetly want it loud. This is going in a suburban and ill be running a AQ1200d on either a pair os incriminator audio 187 15s or a single AQ hdc 18

2 15s will have more cone area therefore producing more sound.

but the 18 hcan handle more power and will most likely get lower. i have about 7cube to work with and am wanting to do a rather larger port. I might not be running the Aq1200d as i found a hifonics 1600d for a good price. and the 15s are only 300w each

Quick way to figure out what can get louder is by using the efficiency of the subs in question. Not exact but gives you an idea

Sub 1 300watt 15" SPL 1 watt 1 meter - 86 db
Sub 2 1000 watt 18" SPL 1 watt 1 meter - 85 db you add 3db each time you double power or cone area

the 15's may have more cone space, but you still goto factor in the XMAX, to see which would actually move more air. but most of the time the 18 will have less XMAX but not in all cases

their is alot more that goes into spl then xmax+cone area+power

I think you said your car is a taurus or sable right? I don't remember. If so what year? Mines a 95. If it is like mine I can help you put with demensions and tuning for that car with 2 15s - that's what was in mine and did 140s as a daily driver.

this is going in a 2002 suburban. I just found a box for 6 12s really cheap so i might pick that up if it fits and just get 6 hifonics 12s. the last two i had held up pretty well and didnt sound bad at all

If you got a good box to run 6 12s @ a good price go for it. 6 12s will be nice and loud in there

IF you run 6 twelves in the 7 cuft of airspace you mentioned then won't you be choking them out a bit with only around 1 cuft per sub? AND it's going to take a bit more power to run six subs rather than 1 or 2 plus some upgrades in the electrical and wiring department. BUT don't get me wrong man, 6 twelves in the right box with enough juice will bang in the burban!!! go for it IF you have enough room to give them AND power! best of luck though..whichever route you go.
