The SPLMAX CUP is a points championship to award the best Bass Racer® in the United States for 2007. There will be an equal number of SPLMAX CUP events held in various regions throughout the United States. The points chase begins in April and ends in September 2007. There will be only one SPLMAX CUP winner. Competitors can compete in a maximum of ten SPLMAX CUP events nationwide. The competitor with the most SPLMAX CUP points at the end of the season will win the SPLMAX CUP, a 5 foot high multimedia electronic trophy. This trophy, constructed by Cameron Mitchell, features neon lighting, video monitor, DVD player, amplifier, speaker, and custom fabrication. It is hand built trophy with over 80 hours of labor in its construction. The trophy is capable of displaying all types of video, including DVD movies.
By having an equal and fixed amount of events to compete in, the SPLMAX CUP is the fairest points competition available. Unlike any other points races where the more competitions you attend the more points your earn, SPLMAX CUP requires you to compete in a maximum of 10 shows and do well in the shows you compete in. The SPLMAX CUP uses the Base Race SPL competition format. Considered by many, Bass Race is the most exciting SPL format to compete in. Bass Race bracket style allows any competitor a chance to win.
Competition is open to everyone 16 years or older. Competitors will compete using the Bass Race® format and the SPLMAX CUP rules. SPLMAX CUP points will be awarded for competitors who finish 1st through 8th place in each of their respective classes. Additional bonus points are awarded for competitors who competed in fuller brackets and or higher Bass Race® classes. Competitors points will be calculated after each event. A running points total will be posted each week during the competition to track the leaders.
The race for the championship is on - who will win?

Seems like those two sentences contradict each other......

the splmax cup deal is cool, but i dont see how it would determine the best bass racer in the united states. i like competing, but im not gonna go retarded over winning this trophy. im not doing any shows that arent within 200 miles of here, except finals.
the whole higher classes and fuller brackets thing really doesnt make much sense to me. to me "the best bass racer" would be someone who does good scores and has good finishes at every event of the season that they attend.
to understand good bass racing, please refer to my stats page for 2006, THAT in my opinion is what good bass racing is, not running in a higher class or having a fuller bracket. not to be ****y, but it doesnt get a whole lot better than my 2006 season.
no offence to tommy or anyone else, but this trophy will probably just be won by the loudest bass racer of the season, since they would have the highest finishes and be in the highest class.
once again, im not trying to make any crazy point, be ****y, piss anyone off, or de-grade the splmax cup competition. im only stating my personal opinion.

good point, you get more points for competing in a fuller bracket. BUT, you also get more points for competing in a higher class. kinda balances itself out.
see where im going with this?;)

Seriously, that trophy's pretty lame. What happens in a couple years when the monitor breaks? It's not like it has any real value. I couldn't put that thing up on eBay and expect to get any more than $100. If they were giving away $1000 cash, then we'd be talking.
That whole line about higher classes and stiffer brackets seems like a crappy way of saying "arbitrary points distribution to the person who's butt we want to kiss the most."
I'm with Ben on this one. The only way that you can judge a great Bass Race season is on consistent runs in the **9.9s.
Maybe if you could do that with a CD that they designate at the show or something, it might be more difficult. If you have enough time, you can figure out how to dial your system in for near perfect runs everytime. Especially when you get to use your own music.
I don't think it's spam. I'm kinda flattered that they found us. We do have world-class bass racers on here. Let em spam away. It's not like they'll be back to see what we wrote;) .

Thats right! Thats the only way to judge the skill of it, and not by participation. But I guess it's really a participation contest to promote SPLMAX. Kind of like the ol "go to 10 XM shows for a jacket" deal.

I also agree with Ben, Buzz and Casey.......If the rules was changed and gave everyone a level playing field than this could be a good thing. The ten max show is a good thing, but I would change the points system. You still get the points for Bass Race but you will get additional points for your finally outcome (score). So if you finish with a near perfect record than you would get more points than someone who didn't. This will give everyone an incentive to finish with a perfect score rather than scoring just enough to win.....just my 2cents.....
