ok guys. im going to start my build within the next week or so, and i want your input. it can be in 2 formats.
1- a full set up piece by piece that stays under 2 grand. must include head unit, eq, mids/highs, amps for mids/highs, and amp for L7 15".
2- little ideas, tips, tricks, thoughts that would allow me to come up with a unique set up. things you have wanted to try or check out, but never have.
throw down. ready go. :D

i'll start.
1-pioneer AVH-P5100DVD
2- 2 earthquake 10" sealed backs, 4 selenium horns, 4 dayton 6's, 2 t-44 bullets, 2 selenium 8's.
3- rf or diesel audio mono block for the L7, idk which.
4- i really have no clue how i want to power the mids and highs... havent spent enough time looking at amps for that, but im thinking infinity because of the clean power.. unless you guys can suggest something better/cheaper. :) haha.
5- headrest t'vs in both head rests, wired to the head unit.
6- all the mids and highs are mounted in the crawl through behind the back seats in a wall, sub is ported through the rear deck.

Do you need an EQ or do you want one? Do you think that a decent head unit wont EQ anything you want it to EQ? DO you understand what an EQ does?
Save your money on the EQ and put it towards a better head unit. The kenwood decks usually have decent EQ's for a little bit of money. I know the $200 one I put in my brothers truck had a 7 band EQ as well as time alignment and a couple other cool features.
I am not sure why diesel audio would even come into play when you are considering any product for a decent sound system.
That being said: If I have 2k to spend this is what I would buy......
Radio - Alpine CDA-9886 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_10750_Alpine+CDA-9886.html)
EQ - None, you dont need one.
Mids/Highs - 4 Eminence Alpha 6A's (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=290-400%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20&FTR=alpha%206a&CFID=15294486&CFTOKEN=43550633)
Sub Amp - Kicker ZX1000.1 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6590_Kicker+ZX1000.1.html)
Mids Amp - Kicker ZX850.4 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6599_Kicker+ZX850.4.html)
All for well under $2k

kicker.. hmm.. ive had bad experience with kickers quality, but thats just me.. the only reason ive got an L7 was cause i got a good deal on it and i wanted to just pound the heck out of stuff.
as for the eq, yes. i do want an eq, because it drives more power. id rather have an eq giving 9+ volts instead of 4 like a normal pre-out. not to mention, i do like having a full range of frequencies to mess with, including different dials for sub volume and vocal volume.
ive heard the alphas, and i agree, they are awesome, but ive already got the daytons, and im going to stick with those.
the unit i posted was the flip up dvd screen. thats something i really want for sure.

1-Pioneer DEH-P6000UB
2- 2 delta 10's , 4 selenium horns, 4 alpha 6's, 2 selenium tweet's preferably st350 , 2 beta 8's.
3- rf mono block for the dc lvl 4.
4- Hifonics for budget. keep tweet's and horn's on seperate amp.
6- all the mids and highs are mounted in the crawl through behind the back seats in a wall, sub is ported through the rear deck.

I'd go all selenium for the highs.. 6.5s and st350 super tweets.. maybe a horn or two, i dont really like using them inside the vehicle though.. deff would loose all the kicker too.

My old kicker amps were some of the best amps ive ever owned. Beat the hell out of them and never once did they shut off or give up. But thats whatever. You are a noob and will learn your lessons the same way the rest of us did........the hard way. If you think you can hear an audible difference beetween 4v and 9v then you are incredibly insane! I understand wanting to adjust on the fly, but if everything gets set up properly you should have to adjust once and once only. Know how you get seperate nobs for your bass and vocals? Use the volume knob on your headunit for vocals and get a remote gain knob for your sub amp.
If you want more voltage to your amps, buy a line driver. I dont know when loading a door with speakers to keep up with a single sub became the cool thing to do, but to each his own I guess. The only people that think that is cool are the people that follow you home and steal your equipment.

lol. didnt expect you to get mad. sheesh. anyways, as far as calling me a noob and saying i'll learn, kind of immature. just because i dont like the same brand as you.. and its not like im the only one. .. yea, kicker plays hard and is tough, but its not as clean as i would like it to be. and ive heard more than my fair share.. im good friends with the owner of the loudest mids and highs truck in florida. and if you want to doubt that, finals is just around the corner.
now then, i happen to be an audiophile. i can in fact hear the difference. i know exactly when something doesnt sound right, and will go nuts trying to fix it. thats just how i am.
btw, im not trying to "keep up" with the sub. im going a different direction with this car than most of you guys. im going mids and highs. im going loud. still going to have the bass, but if i wanted real bass i would be doing a different style box, not a small one ported through the rear deck. i have another vehicle we're loading with bass. and im not even going to have anything in the doors for the time being... its all going to be walled behind the seats.
thanks for calling attention to the fact my stuff was stolen in an extremely friendly way. shows a lot of class and respect. you may have had more than 3 years of experience with audio, but i think you forgot to experience getting along with people...

i am an audiophile. that doesnt mean my customers are. when you go to a show, what attracts you more, someone playing really clean music when you sit down inside their car, or someone that you can hear, and you stand around for a couple of minutes while it gets louder and louder, then they pull in? sadly, noise beats quality for the most part. :( i have thought about the components though.. might look at them some more.
and mike, you just came off that way. im running on like 7 hours of sleep the last 4 days, and im not in the best of moods. my bad. lol.

Image Dynamics mids/highs sound real nice as well as their horn tweets. Won't kill your wallet either. I have yet to hear an eminence that impresses me. I've heard pyle pros outplay eminence. In quality, not volume btw and that's sad lol.
As for an amp I'd look for an old school US amp personally. Even if you find one blown off ebay USamps/RE still repairs them for around $200. I have an old USA442 that I will never ever part with. Had it since 1993 and nothing has come close yet in quality. Its such a clean rich and full sound you could almost swear its a tube amp. Not the most powerful thing out there (rated 40x4 @ 12v) but it plays very clean to an audiophile's ear.
side note: You can't get audiophile sound if your main core component of the system (headunit) is not up to par and IMHO a pioneer will never cut it. I like them don't get me wrong as I also sell pioneer but if you want top quality sound go with a Clarion pro or an Alpine.

OK, so it seems you have the HU picked out. So I am not going to mess with that.
I too suggest a line driver instead of an EQ. But then I am not and EQ guy.
I like the Daytons, so keep them. Get 2 more actually.
Headrest monitors......I have a good deal going on some if your interested.
6" for $85 each or some 11" in adjustable headrest for $250 pair.
Amps, for the mids and highs, I would choose a 4 channel amp with adjustable xover slopes. Sundown would be my choice. If you have a crossover already, then Dialo Audio. (links in my sig). I can get either one for ya if you need.
For the sub.... a matching Class D mono amp from either company will kill.
For tweeters......still choosing them myself. But I say no to horns. Dispise them.
And did I read that you want everything mounted behind you??? Imaging goes right out the window.

one suggestion that no one has offered...use security screws so its damn near impossible to take your stuff. mix it up too. diff kinds on one speaker.
the way you want to mount the speakers will make an audiophile cringe. sorry.
im not a big fan of large speakers in the doors but ALL the sound coming from behind you just does not make sense. again sorry. throw something up front.
why not do something like i saw at a show once. everyday loud speakers up front and then fade to the rear for your stupid loud set up. you can play both or just one set.
win win.

When I had the Blazer set up with the twelve 12's, I had it on toggles (heavy duty ones), and I could play it in incriments of 3 subs at a time. And toggle it between what 3 would play.

I'll be the first to say it. For the mids and highs I would run jl amp but since 2000 is the budget i would recommend their sister company T.M.A. They are the same company just jl sends the components out to be assembled elsewhere. I run a 2 channel 320 watt on my mid and highs but they make a couple of 4 channels and I paid about 130 for it. You can get it cheaper online at dealercostcaraudio.com because they carry the whole line.

awesome.. thanks for the input man. im actually covering the mids and highs amp with one of central fls powerbass 600.4's, but i'll be sure to keep that site and idea in mind for the future. :D
and as for kicker.. yea. i know. lol. i personally despise their sound quality, but i got a good deal, and it will push massive air in my car. and im building the box, 3 cubes sealed into 3 cubes ported up through the rear deck. if that doesnt sound decent i'm going to expand the ported chamber. gotta do what you gotta do...
will look at mofo's though. trying to make a buddies car fall apart, and we need all the bass we can get for cheap. ;)

Your sub box won't work. The rule of thumb to start with is make the ported side twice as big as the sealed side. I'm pretty shure you can cut the sealed side down too.
