I'd be interested, but, I'd have to do some serious electrical upgrades to be able to deliver the power to the amps to drive the sub(s). Plus I'd want 4 of them in my van and doubt it'd hold the weight of them, enclosure, batteries, amps, etc...
Oh well... Maybe one day I'll have something like that to show off.

Actually there stuff doesnt look bad and there amps seem to be priced well. They also claim to be CEA certified

09-17-2009, 07:42 AM
please explain, if someone gets sponsored lets say by massive, they supply the sub and amp at an extremely low price? or give it to you for you to use and compete in? and do they supply all wires and everything else thats needed or is the rest on you to buy?

i would like a couple of those 12s they have to put in my girls civic or 10s not sure something small and a lot of

idk, but id probably put 2-4 in a pathfinder... i wouldnt mind buying all the mids and highs and whatnot, but i would expect the subs, amps, and a couple batteries. id also expect them to work with me on the build for it. as in provide specs and insight into what type of enclosure they sound best in, etc, not actually help build. lol.

Guys just remember nothing is free. Most companies that give out sponsorships expect you to go a certian amount of shows, sometimes they will make you go and compete at certian events, you must sign a contract and if anything happens to their equiptment you will pay for it one way or another. Make sure you read the contract and understand it before you sign it.
I'm not saying this company is like that, just that most are so read the contract and if you do not understand or are unsure about anything written in it call me, I work in a law office M-F and I would be more than happy to help you understand it before you sign it.

Neill cxhange your sig, the secret is out.
some companies give you radical discounts, other provide equipment to you at no cost, with requirements like mike said, and if may have to return it at the end of the year......or if you dont place as high as they would like then you have to pay x dollars etc....
they will all make you sign an NDA though, so you should at the very least expect that.

yes it is always good to see manufacturer's getting involved, and as I said they are a solid company with a good background, i just don't want the younger guys making any contract mistakes.

You're right. Probably would not be a good idea to get 4 of them with the power, just to try bass racing in the 120-129.9 class. They might not go for that. I wouldn't.

Thanks for all the interest. This is a SPL burping woofer only. I'm sure it will play music but thats not what it is made for. You should only need 1 of these woofers to score huge points and if you compete in single woofer categories you will have a big advantage-
P.S. This woofer will be available for shipping in October although it is limited production (we have recone kits available if needed) so we are taking applications now.
We will offer a very very low price for these woofers and only ask that you have a track record or a list of upcoming shows already set so we know it will be used in the field and not sold-
email chyler@massiveaudio.com for spec's on the Rhino!
Thanks everyone-

i emailed them about it to see if i "qualify". they said this is only to be used for burping in the 60-70hz range. regardless i will give it a shot assuming the price is fair and theyre not gonna try and slap some ridiculous contract on me

yep. 60-70 hrtz range, straight burper. however, some of their other products look great, and im working on getting more info on them as we speak. :)

yeah i played with a DMX awhile back, tuned near the 40hz range and it had impressive lows for being tuned that high. the carbon fiber cone was cool too.....just wished that it had a nice finish on it.

The massive rep was just here, all the lit is actually sitting on the top of my pile right now. Looks like a nice lineup you guys have!
I'm not really a fan of the idea of a "burping only" woofer. I know i know, that's the point i get it.....I dunno just seems counter productive to me. The object of getting that product into competitors hands is to market it and get people buying your stuff, but what normal customer wants to buy a burp only woofer?

i think i can kind of see what they are marketing towards there.. if you can build a woofer that hits huge numbers with just one, and show that it can win its division on a regular basis, then you will see competitors buy it. i think they came here with the idea that there are people here that want nothing more than to win shows, and with that in mind, would buy one. seeing as there arent a ton of people that would buy a woofer like this, it makes sense that they are making a "limited quantity".

Thank you all for your interest and comments. Massive woofers (besides Rhino) usually tend to be on the high power / SQ or low Freq pounders.
If you’re interested in consumer woofers; everything from the QC Series and down are very nice. Finger cut cones and light dust caps for very high sensitivity and choice in materials make our subs contenders with everyone. Especially if you want something different.
What seems to be driving our company now though is our amplifier lines. Great real power, just enough features and a lower than normal price. The nanos seem gimmicky but they are an installer’s best friend because of the quality and flexibility they provide.
Honestly though, the owner of Massive is also the main engineer for all products so it has that personal touch of pride and techy design-
Not trying to blatantly sell our line, just letting people know how we work. I’ve worked for a few of the bigger companies out there and the difference in care is noticeable-
Thanks and ask away-
