Im trying to see what kinda volume can be had. Im trying to squeeze 4 15s in mine, ported but I need a good enough gap between the box and my seats so the subs wont hit. right now i have 9cubes in there with about 8" to spare height wise but the top of the truck starts to narrow and i have no idea how to calculate that....

You talkin bout a reg cab or an xcab? If you can wall a reg cab with 15s or even 10s damn you must be short lol.

Well Joe aka 00sdime on other forums had 4-15s in his xcab now has 5-15s. I could get into his truck but it was the most uncomfy ride ever!!!! Butit was painful inside when he had the 4-15s!

You can put a topper on the bed and take the rear window out and cut the rest of it down to the bed and across to the other side of the truck than put on an accordian boot to seal off and your good to go..Otherwise good luck!!In an xtra cab theres only around 12 cubes in xtra cab section..I did one about 5 Years ago when I ran 2 15s with around a 25 cube enclosure with adjustable rear wall..This was in a 2000 S-10 Xtra cab..

ok well I have 4 kicker comp 15s sitting in the closet. right now i have a 9cube box in the truck with 2 MA xl15s and its pretty loud but not loud enough. My plan was to try and squeeze in a box large enough for the 4 15s ported, sealed if I had too. then upgrade my wiring, add a few batteries in the bed if needed and get a larger amp. I hate the look of s10s with camper shells so that idea is a no go lol but just outta curiosity how much is the accordion boot and how hard is it to install

well I was looking a little further into this and it seems pretty doable. I did a little calculating and a single 12" quickcrete port 11" long, if I can get 12cubes after displacement will give me 36hz. was going to put the port in the center of the box in between the two seats about head hieght

Joe (soloudithz, 00sdime00) has a wall in his ext. cab S10, and I think he has 15 cubes after port and subs, so roughly 19-20 cubes total. completely do-able.

Ok so that does make me feel better. What about my porting. I am really leaning towards a single larg round or square port in th middle top of the box sticking out about 6" so ts close to my ears hehe

My husband has a S10 blazer and he has had alot of walls in his and it wasn't too bad of a ride to shows. He will come on here later and let you know what he thinks. He also has pics up on his website www.purpressureaudio.net. Not a inside/outside view but you can see what he has done.

it really depends on what you're going for. Typically ports on the driver's side of the box tend to do better on the meter, but there are alot of people doing big numbers out of top ported boxes, so it all comes down to preference. I ported my wall at the top, because Im a little OCD, and the asymmetry of a driver's port would drive me nuts

Buddy of mine had 2 15's downfiring with port facing up to the roof in an ext Ranger. That thing whomped. The box I would say was about 12" from the roof but tapered towards the top so the seats could recline and virtually no foot room was lost.

Ok What about porting, will a single 12" round port be enough? i will most likely never get the truck metered. its purely a show off at work truck and my daily driver

I was there a couple of years ago but that was in my Black Blazer with the 3 DEath Penalty 15s..I was running 2 Stetsom 7Kds strapped to the 3 and it was incredible...Bent the hinges on both front and passenger doors..I nded up doing 4 DPs in a wall in the Blazer that was the loudest by far for my self..It was doing a 158.4 Playing music..It was Hard on my truck with all the weight..We estimated with everything was 1700 Lbs on stock suspension with air shocks so I couldnt drive it anywhere..

I never got to hear Wes old setup. He had airbag failure at sbn the year hehad the truck and never let us hear it. I know it got LOW!!! I think he did 54s at 30somethign Hz

AirMan

Kyle- I could always use the help. My last wall was designed by Elemental designs and it was horrible. Is a 12" round port adequate?

LoudBlazer
10-15-2009, 09:14 PM
4-15s and a single 12" round port? I dont think that would be near enough port area. Im sitting on 180 sq in and im told I dont have enough :(

AirMan
10-16-2009, 04:41 AM
Ya I had a feeling it wouldn't be enough. so I don't have room for 4 15s ported. I just don't want to go sealed.

AirMan
10-19-2009, 06:31 PM
so what about 2 15s ported or 4 15s sealed. I can get 6 autotek 12s real cheap. i think they are similar to the hifonics 12s

AirMan
10-23-2009, 01:16 PM
Ok so we've pretty much figured out I don't have the room after port, sub and bracing displacement. would two 15s be better ported or 4 sealed?

AirMan
10-24-2009, 05:44 PM
Sense I don't have the room I was thinking about walling the truck and making the port larger. I don't know if I have enough as is. And I would add some more power. I was going to put a woofer behind each headrest and the port in between the seats. that away all the sound is ear level. Is that a good idea?

AirMan
10-26-2009, 10:16 AM
Ok so this is what ive come up with for max dimensions. 43.5"wide, 38.5" tall and 15" deep. I would like to go with 14" deep so I have some room between my subs and seats. I am going to use a single 10" round port, or a big square port. If i use the 10" round port ill make it 9" long, make the box 13" deep and that gives me 9.61^ft3 after port and sub displacement

anyone know how they make the trim panels around the box so they look almost perfect.

Im not too sure running a 10" port to within 4" of your back wall is the best idea...I could be wrong as I never do round ports, so I could just be spouting off at the mouth. lol

AirMan
10-26-2009, 05:10 PM
yea i just decided im going to use a 10x10 square port. is that enough port for two 15s?

Ok so i like my current setup I just need more power. but I might change things up. Was thinking about 8 hifonics 12s sealed in 13cubes. or two quantom 15s" in my current enclosure. I really just want what would be louder but the 8-12s seems like it would be a fun build and pretty cool to have in a s10. im going to use the Audiopipe AP30001D for power

11-13-2009, 02:16 PM
8 12's would just look cool. if you think u have the room go for them-

i use the ap30001D its a pretty solid amp for the price

Ok well I think im going to try and fit 10- 12s in a sealed enclosure in the truck..... Wish me luck

AirMan
11-16-2009, 07:28 PM
Well after doing some work on Google sketchup I discovered I cannot fit 10 :( . If i make the front of the box out of fiberglass I can fit 10 but I don't think the addition of 150 dollars in fiberglass is worth the extra 2 speakers. If anyone wants to chime in on this please do. I would also be interested in seeing any pics of a similar setup. 8+ 10s or 12s sealed in the cab of the truck, Not a blow through

sealed will work quite well in the cab, I would much rather see some decent 12's sealed in that wall than those two MA's. of course you could always upgrade to some Fi or Sundown woofers. I bet if you go grab a couple sundown Z15's that are on closeout right now and put them in that same enclosure on a bigger amp, you will be more than happy.

I'm happy as hell with these MA subs cause they are the real old ones when they were a pretty decent company I just got bored and ice never had 8 12s

Well after much deliberation with my wife we did decide its not the best idea for me to put 8-12s in the truck on 3krms. Ill have to upgrade my electrical and the cost really doesn't outweigh the risks/benefits. the truck has 258k miles on it and its my daily drive. So major failure is going to happen. So we decided I will upgrade to the audiopipe 1500d amplifier. and then once my subs fail I was thinking of the Crunch ground pounders? I am going to rebuild my wall and actually carpet this one and have a trim panel made so its looks decent.

AirMan
11-19-2009, 05:34 PM
If the 8-12s will run off 1500w decently it will be cheaper to buy them then a pair of 15s lol
