View Full Version : transmission line build, 9" technics woofer

i got bored today, and decided to build a transmission line enclosure. i must say, i enjoyed the challenge.

it is a 9" technics woofer, out of a 20+ year old home stereo system. i'm powering it with my clarion head unit, yep thats right, good 'ole head unit power (about 10 watts rms). it did a 126.8 on termlab, on the dash, with all doors closed and windows up.

btw - this speaker isnt even a subwoofer, it is a midrange woofer.

What next a 3 inch woofer , Ben??? Also what freq.? And did you bassrace it? Flashdance?

bass races a 119.9 with ease. frequency response is flat from 20hz to 65hz.

Do you have specs for that speaker? How did you calculate the TL's Fs Quarter Freq?

It's flat in the vehicle? So you can do a 127 at 20Hz?

Nice enclosure Ben. I've always liked them and they are very musical. Hey are you bringing the PT down to JAX for the 3X on the 6th...?

well, flat to the ear. on the meter it varies, the box was designed around a kicker cvr 10", since im going to put this in my wifes car with a cvr 10. just playing around with this speaker for now, since i already have it.

I think it would be funny if the technics was louder than the kicker.
