so my friend tells me this idea, and i became interested and want to know some opinions. if its a good idea i may just go with this over a bandpass through armrest....

he says

"Alright plan on re-building the box and I may try this. Remember my trunk is extremely sealed off, I have computers and what not all on behind the rear seat and with the panel off it doesn't let much air intot he car. Anyways, I want to face the subs the same way, towards the back and have the port facing up and into the car. It would be built so the port goes directly into the rear deck. How you guys think that will work? "

727kid on here, 2 12" BLs and 2 sundown 1500d's BTW.

Consider it a 4th order bandpass. Ports only work well within a certian range. Make it a 6th order bandpass so you can get a bit of a flatter responce. I've thought about doing this before but never have put forth the effort to try it when the opertunity presented itself.

I really don't think I have enough airspace to do a Bandpass. Max dimensions are 38.25w, 16h, and 22d I believe.

i originally wanted to do a 4th order through armrest.....
to eliminate trunk rattle and still get real loud inside and outside....

this was just an idea.

Wahts difference in4th and 6th? And I have read bandpass only picks up a 10hz range real well.

i think 4th is like 1 sealed 1 ported, and 6th has 2 ported.

Bandpass is the devil.

Good luck.

lol well for me trunk rattling from 200+ ft away, and for him stupid non-folding seats are the devil.

I was thinking about doing the same thing in my maxima but found out that the subs and port have to be in the same space to prevent cancelation. If you fire the subs forward have it ported through the rear deck and get the trunk sealed off perfectily that would be the way to go

ohh i see cancellation huh???

thats another reason im looking at a possible 4th order build.

a bandpaas where the port goes through the rear deck will work great. i've done it plenty of times. but you have to tune the box correctly, and some subs won't work in a bandpass application.

why not just cut the rear deck out do the sub and port where teh rear deck is/was?

Don't really want to cut out my whole rear deck.
