EBP = Fs / Qes 50 or less = Sealed / 4th order Bandpass. 50 - 90 = flexible enclosure options. 90 or greater = Ported / 6th order Bandpass |

| cheap sleeper | mrsublime, take what subs you dig and dump the parameters into winisd n see how it looks. for reference of how 'well' they may perform, pick a couple more suitable subs you like and pile them all onto the same graph and see how they compare. that'll def help you make a final sub choice! or if you're like me and get your heart set on a particular thing, just get em and model away til you design sumpm you're willing to build! enjoy and post pics! :) :) |

So with all that has been stated, I have been looking at PSI Platform 3 12's or the DC Audio LvL 5 12's these particular subs are not recommended for sealed enclosure. I would like to use those in 4th order, with two bc3500 strapped, but i could take it down a notch and go with the Platform 2 or the LVL 4 on one bc3500. |

| cheap sleeper | hey anonymous, how small are you goin sealed section on those bad boys? curious what kinda ratio youre using with that kinda power. im entertaining the thought of doing a big 4th since they have been doing so well :) |

| AudiophilesAnonymous | I've found out (by making a huge mistake) that when building a 4th order, you definately do not want to use the manufacturer's recommendation for the sealed section. Just because a sub sounds good in a 1.5 cube sealed box doesnt mean that the 4th order should have 1.5 cubes in the sealed section. |

| mobeious | there is a particular formula to use with T/S to see how the sub suite in a 4th order and give u a idea of chamber sizes.... mostly it is trial and error and testing |

| cheap sleeper | depends on what youre interested in doing wif it! for daily, a closer ratio with a decent sized rear enclosure does well. to do higher numbers at the cost of bandwidth, you'll wanna favor the ported side with much more of the allotted space. buy woofers made for sealed enclosures, and off ya go with modeling! and don't concern yourself greatly with having a large rear enclosure size. with a properly sized/ tuned ported section, you can run very small sealed sections |

subwoofers best for 4th order applications Is it best to find a sub that works well in a sealed enclosure and use that as a guide for building a 4th order? Lets say theres a few subs Im looking at that you can use in a sealed enclosure. Manufacture recommends 1.5 cu ft sealed. If Im doing a 2:1 that chamber would be 3 cu ft.. But if that manufacture doesnt recommend there sub for sealed enclosure, should i stay away from it? |
