Default Is there anything wrong with this?

I want to know if there would be any potential flaws in this "design" for an Obsidian 18". I would like to order the port and have someone Build me a box (anyone near Gainesville that would build one for me for a decent price?). However, I don't want to order the wrong sized port and be stuck with a useless piece of PVC. So let me know if this would work and if you could build it for me. PM me with quotes. IF you can come up with a better option and design feel free to try, but I will have to use an 8" aero to get the room in my trunk max dimensions 35.5"W, 14.5"H, 29"D and tuned 29-30 Hz.

I would use a 6" Aeroport.

Is a 6" aero enough port for an 18"? I mean I know I asked for suggestions, but what is actually wrong with the original design? I could add a double baffle, sure. However what is advantageous of a slot port or going with a smaller aeroport? What will I gain with either option?

It would be easier deal with a slot port instead of ordering one like you said. Then if you have too much port area or something you can modify it. I'd do the 8" if you were set on the aero idea. I'm just not a huge fan. I'd also raise the tuning to like 31-33, it will still be plenty low being an 18" and you'll get a more usable bandwidth.

I am just going right in the middle of OA's recommended tuning. They say between 28 and 32 so I figured 30Hz would be a safe place. I am using an aero just to save space. I just don't know too much about enclosures. If you do know about enclosures, is there anything I am not considering in the original design? I can tweak a little with the idea of a double baffle. It would have to be sub up, port firing into driver side rear quarter panel. Would there really be a difference between tuning at 30Hz and say 32 Hz?

45s where? I need an aeroport and 45's don't really do anything except offer bracing.

An 8" Aeroport will give you a more narrow bandwidth and be more peaky. And you don`t need a double baffle with a 600 rms Speaker lol. And just becuase it is an 18" speaker ddoes not mean it will give you an automatic lowend. If you want lows then get the 6" Aero and make it as long as you can.

I have a 6" aeroport here.

And enough wood to Build you a box, for a good price.

Hit me up if interested.
