Actually maybe, maybe not. I should have mentioned it can also read a little higher than the amps sees, because the amp is at the end of a long wire. I always tap volt meters right from and amp's main power, it's the most accurate option. The lighter one will be close, so if you're only needed a close reading it'll work though.

+1 I have my meter tapped into the Power Wire at the amps. I see no real value in tapping it at the alternator or front battery.

I tap them in at the rear batteries (if installed)

Good luck man.

If you end up needing some wire, I can get you some Audio Technix

Take care.

Pick yourself up another battery. You could pick up something small and simple but if you know your going to always be going louder and louder then skip the small one and save up for a nice big group 31 battery. Remember batteries easily can be switched to a new car if you buy a new car.

Hooking up a battery is really easy. Run a line of 0 gauge from your front Positive battery terminal to the rear positive battery terminal. There is a lot of debate on weather you should run a 0 gauge run from front negative to rear negative or to just ground to chasis. Do both!, then you won't need to worry about the debate.

Run your amps' positive directly off the rear battery.

If you ever plan on doing bigger systems, just go ahead and start saving up for a new alt because all of us eventually get to a point where we want/need to upgrade the alt.
