Basically what I'm saying...is your "test" proves nothing other than what you saw on your voltage meter. Just because it didn't drop as far after the switch doesn't make the "more" cheaper batteries the best choice.

Show me tests with voltage meters, clamped Power results and maybe some weather data to prove that the cheaper batteries are better. If you are just going by what you noticed by looking at your inaccurate voltage meter...then stop talking.
Meh, no need for a scientific test. I agree tht the d3100 is far better in a 1 on 1 comparison. However...... The d3100 is NOT superior in a 5 vs 3. I also agree that voltage meters and not exactly spot on. But seeing that playing wide open my voltage with the 3 3100's and 1 3400 was dipping into the high 11's and with the 5 duracell's and 1 3400 the lowest I have ever seen it is 12.8 ish that is a noticeable difference.

The d3100's are what, 350$ each let's say. The duracell's are 135 each. So anyone can buy 2.59595959595959595959595959595959595926 of
The duracell's compared to 1 d3100. Or you can buy 3 d3100's for 1050 and 7.77777777777777777777777777778 duracell's for
The same price. Clearly the 7 will out perform the 3 allllll day. If you are
Limited on batteries for class restrictions or space then obviously the xs power is the better choice. If you are not restricted on it and your wallet is not 11 inches thick with money then IMO buying the greater amount is my
choice.

I'm going to do that too, and have it next to my flux capacitor.

I won't disagree with your cost argument. My point was that you were just guessing about the voltage being better with 1 more battery...and I still don't think that is accurate.

I am not guess about voltage at all. I agreed with you that volt meters are not 100% accurate. But being 1 volt higher even on the volt meter is a difference. I have experience with both setups, and it is 5 duracell's and 1 3400 totaling 6 batteries vs 4 xs. Not 4 vs 5.

Well to the op, in my opinion the original question you asked it will be sufficient to run the amount of Power you speak of.
