Default Psi / JL Audio 12w7 Hybrids

Fat Man and Little Boy are back! Now we can go nuclear!

I sent my JL 12w7s off to David at Psi to be gone through. He did a great job! They look awesome (in my opinion).

As David put it to me... "They will still sound like w7s... Just a little "angrier"".

I think I'm gonna like "angrier"...lol.

They'll be back in the Camaro and up and running shortly. One of these days I'll make the time to finally do a Build log on this thing.

Did they blow the first time or you just wanted to feed them more power?

They were just wore slam out. However, I was a little guilty of turning them up a little, on not enough voltage, which didn't help things. They still played. It just got "ugly" above about 3/4 throttle.

David has a "top secret" voice coil/spyder combo for the w7s. We'll see how they sound. But I'm sure they are gonna do pretty good. ;)

You remove the aluminum ring on the outside, screw holes are under the surround. Did he reuse the original cone because those look like jl audio cones, the spiders are windings are different.

it's top secret...lol.

The trim rings come loose and hold a spring that keeps the surrounds locked down. When you need to get to the screws, you pop the ring, lift the edge of the surround and pull them out. Makes for a nice, clean install.
